Cobepa invests in Van Oord, a global leader in dredging and marine contracting

On 22 December 2011, Cobepa acquired a 10.7% stake in Van Oord N.V. ("Van Oord") from Royal BAM Group ("BAM"), in a consortium with the Dutch investment companies Janivo, Breedinvest and Rinkelberg.

Van Oord is a leading international contractor specialised in dredging, marine engineering and offshore projects (oil, gas and wind). With sales of EUR 1.6bn in 2010, Van Oord is one of the four major dredgers in the world operating on a truly global scale. Active in industry segments with solid long-term fundamentals, the company is characterised by a robust competitive position, strong leadership and a sound financial position. It is headquartered in Rotterdam (the Netherlands) and employed some 4,500 employees in 2010.

By taking over the 21.5% equity stake from BAM, Cobepa and its consortium partners secured the stability and committed base of private shareholders of this independent family business.
